Rookie here .... If I am going to get towed to Prairie Portage and then stay on the Quetico side for the rest of the trip (until I come back to Prairie Portage), do I need a launch permit at some entry point?

Nope.
However, at the end of your trip, if you'll be paddling from Prairie Portage back to Moose Lake, you'll need a free Boundary Waters day permit. If you'll be getting towed back, no BW permit is required.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'm going to try and ask these questions as just because it makes sense to me doesn't mean it's accurate!
