Anyone care to comment on the width and terrain of this short portage? I know it's not actually in the BWCA but assume there are folks here who have used this at some point. I'm wondering if I can squeeze a 14-foot boat in there with portage wheels? Boat is approx 48 inches wide plus the wheels. Thanks!

Maybe... last 50-100 yards will be tricky in and out (from what I recall) I wouldn't do it by myself. Not huge elevation difference for a kevlar canoe... but a 14' boat I'm not so certain.

Also- I've only gone form the parking spot/ trail head to Moss... which is on the north side of the road. I'm not sure where the trail is from Hungry Jack to the road (if there is one)..

Anyone correct me if my memory isn't serving me well

If I am correct portage wheels would be illegal once you hit the BWCA line. Otherwise it is a pretty wide portage.

I'd say shortly after you hit the boundary sign, the portage wheels would be uselss anyway- that's when the elevation change happens.

You'll want to portage your canoe from the short cutty parking lot into Moss and across into Duncan. Pretty easy-peasy.
