No, but it does allow them to share their emails, if you want to communicate directly. It's the little envelope under people's name.

Justpaddlin... if you want people to be able to email you, you have to unclick the box in your profile that asks about hiding your email address.

I wish this website would proxy the initial email, so my email address wasn’t visible to the world (bots and unsavory folks). Then my true email would only be revealed to the sender if I chose to reply to them. Sorry to say, I don’t think we live in a world where direct contact information like email, phone number, or address can be freely shared anymore.

Agreed. That, and also because I had an altercation with someone once a long tiem ago who threatened me. . .is why I don't have one of those little envelopes under my name.

Totally agree. So far, I have left my email available, but would feel way better if I knew there was an initial boundary there, a la Craigs list contact.

I made a separate email just for this kind of thing because I agree that posting my primary one with name publicly just doesn’t work in this day and age.

FWIW if you read the fine print on most forums with “private messages” you’ll find there’s not much privacy involved.. Forum moderators and admins can freely read anything they want and I’ve seen people banned from forums for dissing a mod in a supposedly “private” conversation.

This is such a problem across the web/internet that there are services that have been created to mask email addresses. I started using this one this year:

abine blur email masking

That's also how I handled it. My mindset is if I start getting anything negative from the other email that I would just terminate the account.
