A group of friends and I are heading to Gunflint Lake and we didn't know if we need any extra permits if we stay on the US side of the lake. It's our first time fishing a border lake.

In a word: nope. You can paddle the Granite River all the way to Sag and you're virtually on the international boundary the entire way. You're all good.

Just know where the border is and only fish on the US side and all's well.

You can also do the same heading east Little Gunflint, Little North, and North.
