It was 18 yrs ago this morning that I had my worst bwca experience. One of my best friends drowned on knife lake. RIP Joe Corbin. Please wear your PFDs

Headed in for a trip in a week. I keep reminding my trip partners that PFDs at all times is the way to go, and keep getting the "relax we know how to swim" response. Sorry for your loss.

I am also sorry for your loss. I am also so thankful that you have shared this story many times over the years. I share this story when I am preparing for a trip.

Very sad you lost your friend. Joe looked like he could handle just about anything life throws his way. Which drives the point home...cold water kills.

I still think of you and your story every time I'm near that area of Knife. Sorry for your loss.

Just on my way home from a trip and I'm still amazed how few PFD's I see.

I was having my son Ryan 1st birthday party 18 years ago when you you called and told me the tragic news. Thinking about you, Joe and what a hard day it must be for his father. RIP Joe.

Did you (or someone else in your party) write up a story of this event in the BWJ?

Thank you for continuing to share his story to help others avoid the same fate. I’m so sorry that you’ve had to deal with this tragedy.
