So we just got back from a 6 day trip, check out the trip report if you want the long version. But I had to mention a few of the items that I brought along on my last trip that really stuck out and why. I brought along 6 greenies to the BWCA, they're all fit guys, and had no problem enjoying the BWCA, it was truly a great trip. Anyways, onto the gear!

1. Silky Saw Big Boy Xtra Large Teeth - On the 2nd day 2 guys asked me at different times "how much did this cost? where did you get it?". It's super light weight, the length is amazing-feeling, and they're sharp as hell. I'm pretty sure at least 3 of the 6 guys that came along have already bought their own silky saws.

2. Solo Stove Light - I have used an MSR Pocket Rocket and canister fuel forever. It's always been a battle of the pourable fuel vs canister fuel, and now that I've used a Solo stove, they both suck! Solo stove really can maintain a great heat, and do an amazing job cooking, with only using twigs, pine cones, literally everything that I was standing on, and sitting around on the ground of "the kitchen". Just stirr whatever you're cooking, lift it up for 2 seconds, and chuck in another pine cone and stick, place pot, and watch as the flame curls back up over the bottom of your small pot. Truly that bad boy is a workhorse and I'll be using it for a majority of my cooking from now on, and I'll be bringing a reduced amount of fuel for the Pocket Rocket, as that is still handy for rapid boiling water.

3. DutchWare Wasp - I've been using these forever. If you don't know what these are, they're aprox the length of a quarter, and weigh near nothing. Google them, they look like a little metal silhouette of a wasp. They're titanium. They're used on tarps and any rope that you want to use as a ridgeline. I have them on all of my tars, including my HEAVY *** NEMO BUGOUT TARP and it takes me all of 1 minute to get the ridgeline so tight you can hang wet clothes on it, and it will barely sag. We're talking damn-near guitar string tightness. Kinda limited by how much you can crank yourself, but once you get the technique you can do it in one motion and it's extremely easy to have an ultra-tight ridgeline within seconds of deploying a rope. Which leads me to #4.

4. Samson Lash-It in the 1.75mm diameter. This rope is freaking PERFECT. it literally HAS ABSOLUTELY NO STRETCH WHEN IT'S WET. It is the most abrasion proof rope you can buy, if you don't have a good sharp knife when working with it, you'll know RIGHT AWAY how strong this stuff is. Did I mention it's 1.75mm diameter? This stuff is THIN and STIFF and a dream to wrap and put away, it never knots if you put it away correctly. I have it as my ridgeline for literally all of my tarps, I have 2 CCS tarps, a bugout tarp, I use it for my bear bag rope kit which includes 2 pulleys and 2 different ropes, and I have 2 "extenders" which consist of 30' lengths of Lash it with 1/2" stainless steel rings on the end, so that I can use the stainless steel ring as a "tree" to tie my wasp too from a tarp, if say I'm spanning a tarp over a section that the 30' ridge line won't reach by itself, I can use the extender and the ring (which doesn't let the rope burn on itself as I crank that baby to ridiculous level tightness). If you like you're rope, just buy this stuff and be done with the rope debate forever. The ONLY PROBLEM with this rope is that it's TOO THIN for some things, including being a good painters rope in my opinion. Some things you want a rope with some thickness to it. This is perfect for everything that thickness isn't good!
