Just finished this book. Published in 2016. Authored by Mark Neuzil and Norman Sims. 334 pages plus a 12 page forward by John McPhee. Wonderful photographs, illustrations, and paintings are reproduced in the book. Chapters on dugout, birch-bark, all-wood, wood and canvas, modern materials, the fur trade, and more. Discussions about designs, purposes, variations within types and between regions, construction methods. Interesting stories about individual users, builders and companies. I highly recommend it.
