...and what weather forecast are you looking at? I'm planning on heading up Saturday and entering Sunday and I like looking at Accuweather because it is the least ominous!

Was planning to go, but it was with a first timer. For a solo trip or with some experienced tripping partners, we might have stayed the course. Mid-30s temps and raining is not a kind introduction to the park.

The BWCA is not a park.

Quetico is a park, so is Voyageurs.

I’ll be up this weekend for cabin winterixation. Planning on a day trip on Saturday if I can get a lot done on Friday. If the weather’s decent, I’ll probably head into Wood Lake. If it’s kind of crappy I might go hike the Becoosin-Benezie Loop of the Kek Trail instead. Stay dry and warm everybody.

The definition of a park is a natural space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation. Although the government doesn"t designate the BWCA as a "park"....it is.

Our group is still heading in and still planning a good loop. We are very well packed, and have a lot of trip experience between us, but man something is kinda ominous about the weather forecast. 25 mph wind possible Friday? Snow AND thunder on Saturday night the last time I looked. Good luck whoever is heading in. We'll be freezing with you.

I’ll be going in... my cabin and firing up the wood stove! After hauling some wood to a friend, haha!
Stay warm and dry... Wind has been pretty crazy, but today was the calm before the storm... wait... I saw white caps today too!

Got a buddy going in today. They were going to do a loop from Moose and back to Snowbank, but after looking at the weather, they decided to go to Ensign and basecamp. He said his travel partners were starting to get worried about the weather, with good reason. Told him to pack wool, hats, and hot chocolate.

I decided a long time ago that ripping in bad spring or fall weather is not for me.

You must be old and wise! Haha! I’m old and think that way, but I’m not wise... I’m a whimp in my old age!

Took my wife on a conciliatory trip to the north shore this week, Tuesday thru Friday. Traveled Duluth to Grand Marais over the span. Saw as many cars with canoes on them as I saw when I went to Sawbill the 2nd week in July. Seems like a lot of people making the trip up.
