With the Quetico Park closed I will take my trips this year in the BW. One spot I used to enter was at Angleworm. I always thought of it as a long but pretty easy portage.
As I looked today at the permit situation I was surprised to find that most days in the coming weeks still had 2 of 2 permits available. I know the last time I was on the portage a zig zag up and around a beaver flooded area had been added out of necessity to the portage, making it a bit more difficult.
But my question really is why are more folks not using this entry point? Is there something I am unaware of?

I can only speculate that it is the length that keeps people away.
I also can't resist linking to this trip report that was inspired by Angleworm. Maybe people read the report and have been scared off?

That's great...not sure how I missed it back then!

I took this photo in 2018 at a Steve Miller concert outside of Lambeau Field a couple nights before the season kicked off. I had wanted to post it ever since to took the photo, but forgot that I had it. I have no idea if this is "THE" Corndog, but if it truly was him, I'm disappointed for missing out on the opportunity to meet him and shake his hand.

I’ve portaged the angleworm trail fairly often. It’s what happens when you think you can drive up to the bwca from Duluth and get a permit. It’s a gorgeous lake. Crappy fishing. I’ve done some long portages in Canada, one took two days following caribou trails. No one, including my ultra marathon running son wants to portage 720 rods unless they have no other options. So if you live nearby, don’t like to plan, and are prepared, angleworm is an entry of last resort. Angleworm and the area north are prime bwca. My favorite part of the bwca

It's him! Looks like he is in his natural habitat.
Did you say hi? :-)

This trip report is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), I remember reading it when I first joined this forum and was like, dang!
