On this year’s trip I dehydrated all my own meals and when I was done I had some odds and ends ingredients. So I threw together some macaroni and some sweet habanero beans from Aldi not thinking much about whether it would work or not. Holy cow was it the BEST! Made some quesadillas with freeze-dried cheese and it was one if the best meals of the trip. I doubt I would ever eat it at home but I’ll definitely dry some more for trips.

What’s your great meal for the woods but not at home meal?

Mountain House or similar. Actually more than once when I do really miss the BWCA I have grabbed my trusty camp stove, some water, and a pack of Mountain House and cooked lunch or dinner in the back yard.
