Here's another pic not too far from the first pic's location, just a bit more elevated....looking mostly south, maybe a little bit east....

A couple more photos. Lake 71 has good fishing and a decent campsite protected from wind. It has two portages that can be used to get in or get out. I would think few paddlers stop on this lake and simply pass thru...first pic is of the campsite and the second is facing north....wonder what is on the line?

Is your first pic of a portage landing or campsite landing?
Are we allowed to ask questions?

Mocha, the pic was from the campsite.

The first of the two pics below is from the campsite looking east-northeast. The second is facing north showing what can be caught in the waters here.

I mentioned earlier that there are two portages into or out of Lake 71. However, there are at least three routes one can take to get to either of these portages that require one to tackle one of three other very difficult and lengthy portages to get to Lake 71....worst thing is your going to have to tackle one of these three difficult portages to get back out....but hey, builds character, right?

Not really fair. When my trips were limited to mid-October or early ice out solos I visited that sheltered camp often. Last time I stayed there was in July 19 after a long day from Prairie to McNeice only to discover the McNeice camp occupied. Shan Walshe site not great on a hot still July evening. Thankful I had a bug shelter.
