Any recommendations for camping hammocks that will support taller people? I am 6'2 so not the tallest but is generally an issue I run into. I am interested in hammocks because of the ongoing back issues I will just simply have to deal with. Any tips are appreciated. Happy paddling!

At 6'2" you should be fine with an 11 ft length. Warbonnet and Dream Hammock are worth checking out but there are plenty of other high quality options out there. Go at least 62" wide for max comfort.

My vote would be for a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC.

The WB Ridgerunner and Dutchware Chameleon, if memory serves, get a lot of positive reviews as well.

As evident by my last post, I spend a lot of my winter downtime dreaming about the next time i'll be in the woods, and researching that next piece of gear.. Anyways... In my research, I pretty much came to the same conclusion that Tipsy mentioned for the main top choices..

I went with the Dutchware Chameleon based on other reviews, and luckily that worked well for me. I started with a double layer, as I didnt yet have a UQ, as well as reports that with the single layer, mosquitos would bite right thru the bottom of the hammock.. I think hammocks seem to be a tricky item that its 50% the product, and 50% experience in how to hang it to be comfortable that determine if you think it is good or not.

I wouldn't call myself even close to an expert with only a single trip under my belt hanging, but my only recommendation is to watch the Shugg videos on youtube with his review of the hammocks. If you have a way to borrow some of the different brands to test them, do, otherwise just bite the bullet and get one. Most of your expense will be in all the things that surround you, so money spent on things such as the suspension, UQ, quilt, and tarp will transfer to another hammock if you find out you chose wrong.. Just like tents, Im not sure having more than one to choose from in your gear closet is a bad thing!

Check out the Dutchware Chameleon hammock. For 6'2" I would recommend the wide.

Any quality 11' hammock from the likes of Warbonnet, Dutchware, Simply Light Designs, Dream Hammock, Hammock Gear, Superior Gear, etc should do you well. ENO is popular, but you can get a better hammock from the others for the same money. Amok also makes the Draumr in an XL if you'd like to be weird. My girlfriend has an Amok Draumr (you'd definitely need the XL), and it is quite awesome.

If you're concerned about being on the edge of comfort with your height, get a 12' hammock. It won't do any harm, and would definitely ensure that your height will not be a problem. Just keep in mind that you may need/want a slightly longer tarp if you go with a longer hammock.

I'm 6' 0" and I use a 11' Simply Light Designs Streamliner hammock with a Warbonnet Minifly Tarp. My gf is about 5' 4" and uses an Amok Draumr with Amok tarp and either Amok sleeping pad or Exped Downmat 9 (sleeping pad is structurally important with Amok).

I am your height and recently bought a dutchware 12 footer and a bottom entry bugnet. The only thing I have to compare it to is an eno doublenest and it blows that out of the water.

Only have a few test naps in it so far but will definitely be ditching the tent and taking it on my trip this summer.

I love my chameleon, highly recommend it.

I also hang in a Ridgerunner. Like it a lot! Maybe someday I will grow up and hang in a regular gathered-end hammock. But not today...

One other brand-new option: The Amok Dramur UL was just released in the last week or so. It's main advantage is weight...will be very comparable to a Ridgerunner (perhaps even a hair lighter), but I think is likely easier to hang consistently as it has a fixed ridgeline. The regular Dramurs are quite a bit heavier and heavier-duty, which may or may not suit you.

I am putting a Dramur UL on the xmas wish list.

My wife got be a Chamelon for my birthday last year. I only tripped with it one time but I slept like a log in that thing.

My son wanted a flat lay hammock so I bought him a Ridgerunner for Christmas but it is still in the box.....
