Hello again,
Does anyone know if Damselflies and or Dragonflies are prevalent in the BWCA? I tend to use imitations for topwater bass fishing. If they are present I would plan on bringing several patterns. If not leave id leave them at home. Or this may just have to be something I have to find out myself. Thanks for your time.

Happy paddling,

There are definitely dragonflies up there. I don't target bass so can not comment on them for fishing.

Perfect I shall commence the tying of flies.

Bass are more willing if you know what I mean. If they are feeding on the surface, it doesn't so much matter if there is an exact match. That is even more true if the bait is moving, or the water is moving, and they have less time to think.

Prevalent? Yes, they are everywhere. Both dragonflies and damselflies. I love it when there is a big group of the little tiny bluette damselflies flitting around over the water. Probably fish do too, :-)

I have a video of dragonflies eating mosquitoes off of our headnets. Skeeters were way thicker than normal that night, right at sundown, and we could hear them being eaten. I stuck the camera on my forehead, inside the net. Not a very clear picture in the dark and through the net, but every once in a while there was one right in front of your eyes, chomping down. Crazy loud crunching sounds.
