2020 was the first year my friend group was not able to make our annual BWCA fishing opener trip happen since 2014 due to the BWCA being closed to overnight travel through May 18th. Luckily, I grabbed a Mudro permit for the Tuesday after Memorial Day and my best buddy was willing to join me for a quick four day trip up through Crooked to chase some walleyes. We didn't find any monsters, but we did catch A LOT of walleyes and managed to avoid most of the crowds.

Great video as always. I am taking my 12 yo daughter through that area early June. This will be our first time in that area. Goal is to camp just above LBF for a couple nights, then between Wednesday and Thursday Bays for a few nights, then near Gun/Fairy for the last 2 nights. I asked her what species to target this trip, and she said she wants to catch walleye this time.
I am going to email you for some tips, if you don't mind.

ScottL: "Nice video. What kind of camera set up did you use for making your video? Did you attach the camera to canoe or on you?"
In this video it was just a couple of GoPros, a Silver 7 and Black 8 either on a little selfie stick/tripod or a chest mount. I wasn't happy with the shots taken on the chest mount (sorry for the arms and bare knees in all the shots) so since I shot this video I purchased a helmet camera mount and a RAM mount Tough claw (to grab the gunwhale, same thing I use for rod holder and sonar mount) and extension arm to get the better shots (facing me from the bow of the boat) you see in my other video (The Lake Trout series from this fall). Here's a link if you're interested:

I do have a main camera as well (Panasonic GH5), but I generally hesitate to use it in the boat. It is a little too heavy for the mounts and too expensive to risk taking it out of the pelican case for every shot. I have also been really impressed with the 4k the GoPros capture

Thanks for the video. Crooked is a very rich fishery. I drifted through there a couple of years back on my way to Iron and pulled in a couple of bass and walleye in those high-eddy, pinch points. I appreciate the camera and video info as well. I'd like to get my sony action cam up and running to capture some of my trip experiences and this gives me hope! Thanks again for the posting.
