The trip I normally take is not available due to the border closure. Want to keep portaging to a minimum, if possible. Was thinking Basswood, but not sure who is doing tows into the area. Fishing is the priority. I’m accustomed to Iron and Crooked.

Ideas - suggestions - private messsges... LOL, all are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Second week of June. Two people. Bass/pike/walleye, in that order.

You might have some trouble finding permits at this point. Basswood would be a good choice, SAG or snowbank would also be good choices. North end of snowbank would be good and a portage to grub lake for smallies, but wind could be a problem on any of those choices.

Try Brule. You can spread out quite a bit from Brule to get to other lakes with little to no portaging. I have done 3 Brule trips so far. One to South Temperance, Winchell, and Vernon each. I caught fish each trip. Just depends on what type of fishing you want to do.

You could try seagull (lots of permits) and then over to Alpine up to Red Rock Bay. Minimal portaging, although because of that, sorta busy.

Go short n do Alpine or, go long and do SAK. I like this area because there are so many good options.

You can get a tow into Basswood lake from Moose. Lots of options with different drop off points. Easier tow since they just put the boats on a flat bottom trailer. Not free though and more expensive the farther in you have the tow take you. Latourells is a tow option from Moose. Willy Vosburgh is a tow option from Moose. Both of these can get you pretty deep into Basswood.

You can also get a wheel the tow boat over the portage option from Fall Lake entry into Basswood. You just help a bit with the boat and everything stays in the boat over two portages. Only one outfitter is doing that tow though but you can get way up into Basswood with a short paddle to Upper Basswood falls. That option is Packsack Outfitters on Fall Lake. I’m scheduled for this tow this year and routing up into Crooked and then back out same way. We’re being dropped off all the way up at the no motor zone in Jackfish Bay on Basswood lake.

I had posted a portion of this in your other post asking about LlC and Crooked.
