I am looking for a new satellite tracking unite that can do tracking, OK messages and text messages would be nice too. What do you suggest - Oh, and REI has Garmin InReach Mini on sale. I am not looking for a combination with a GPS.

I'd say nab the mini from REI. It has all of the emergency capabilities you're looking for and very lightweight and compact. About the only knock is a shorter battery life (by about half) but these units overall are very economical on batteries anyway. And, a bit more difficult to read the screen, but, hey, it's a mini...
