So after a number of BWCA trips I decided to go earlier as a high school graduation treat for my son. We’ve had some great bass and walleye adventures but he has the itch to get a Laker. Quantity CPR and a nice eater or two to cook is preferred to size so we’re heading up the Gunflint this weekend.
The bite wasn't fast and furious but we had some action in the 16-20" range and a few bonus bass with the largest being 18.5". A lot of Lakers popped off just before the net with a couple over 20", learned a few things that will make the next trip even better. White jigs, #15 Purple Schmidty Spinner and the Little Cleo were the baits of choice.
