Just to add to the responses above, you'll be charged a 2 person minimum even if you're solo. If I recall correctly it was 58 from LaTourrels to Prairie Portage. A bit less to Indian Portage (Birch Lake) but it's been a couple of years since I've used that service at that EP.

I’m taking a tow from LaTourells in two weeks. It starts out on Moose lake and drops us off at the portage to Splash lake. The cost for each person is $30.00 plus a tip each way. Worth it in my opinion.

This is for Williams and Hall on Moose.
Per Person Each Way (Minimum tow charge 2 person rate):
Entry Point Complete Outfitting Partial Outfitting
Ensign Portage $23 $28
Prairie Portage $26 $33
Birch Lake $26 $33
Lincoln Island $87 $103
Back Bay $97 $120
10% Discount on round trip tows. Youth 15 and under 1/2 price when accompanied by a parent. 3% USFS User Fee on US tows.
We usually use them as out permit station and spend the night there on our way out. That way we can also shower before getting in our vehicles to head home.

analyzer: "how much do you guys usually tip? Is $10 ok?"
Depends on the tow cost. I tip 20% cash to our tow guys. We collect the tip money before the tow from the guys and give it to the tow person at the portage. That way nobody can say I packed my wallet deep in their packs.

analyzer: "how much do you guys usually tip? Is $10 ok?"I haven't towed solo but $10 seems fine. I usually tip $20 for 2 to 4. It has most often been to PP and the driver has sometimes carried a load across. (I'm also a little out of practice - stopped taking tows quite a few years ago.)

I'd think more along the lines of $20.
The level of service matters too. Some tow guys are great and will tell you exactly what to do when loading/unloading, help load your packs the way they want them, double check you didn't forget paddles or pfd's or fishing poles, and then chat you up with helpful tips about fishing/portages/campsites in the area you're going. Others seem like they want to be somewhere else and basically don't engage with you at all, which can cause confusion about the process. The former guy will get a bit more from me.
