Hi all,
This is my first post here. I was wondering if any one knows how much motorboats are used on Loon Lake. I know it's not in the BWCA, but I still am wondering how often motors are used on it, and if it would be a good destination for canoeing. Thanks, and have a great day!

it IS in the BWCA (north shore is in Ontario). I'd say you are pretty likely to see boats. I camped there a few years ago and there were some boats that appeared to be making the run to LaCroix (day trip?). Also saw a few boats fishing out in the lake. Overall, it's not bad and there are more canoeists than motorboaters, at least when I was there. You could also go up to Little Loon and get away from the boats completely. There's a nice site up on the north end.

He said Gunflint Loon. I don't think there is a lot of boat traffic. There are cabins, but its pretty quiet for the most part. I thought there were more campsites than just the one marked here on the maps. My daughter would canoe and camp there for a night when she worked at Tuscarora.
"What could happen?"

I didn't pick that up. I guess when he said not in the BW it tipped you off. Long run to Lacroix from there ha ha.
