My family and I are headed to the South Kawishiwi River EP 33 in early August. If we want to catch walleye, should we take day trips to Gabbro or are there walleyes in the South Kawishiwi river?

Plenty of walleyes in the river and they should be easier to catch in August than heading over to Gabbro. Gabbro is a great fishing lake, but the river has a lot of current and should be a little colder water, so I would spend my efforts fishing near moving water.

I think you mean South Kawishiwi. I wouldn't leave the river - just find moving water and work the area around it.

I've only fished the South Kawishiwi in June, but there seem to be a good population of walleye there. Not much for average size, though.

South Kawishiwi gets so much fishing pressure, the fish population has been compromised in size and numbers.
