You have probably seen it, but there is a trip report with photos that was just posted about a week or so ago. They listed the trip as 8/25/21 (which hasn’t happened yet) so I think they meant 7/25/21. I had been through there 3 weeks before and was dumbstruck by the change.

I was on portions of the Isabella River the last two weeks. While there were sections that where low, I wouldn’t qualify them as “impassable.” You may need to pull through a section or two. I have not been in the Little Isabella this year but I recall it getting chocked with weeds during late summer making travel slow and a little more difficult. Remember, nothing is impassable, just more challenging.

I saw that....looks like the area around Rice was bad, but further upriver it was better. Just gonna go for it and hope that I get to a campsite not too late in the day. Leaving duluth around 5am, so should be on the water pretty early.

Our guides have been through this area quite a bit this summer and one of them just came out of the area yesterday. Plan on doing a lot of walking through thick rice beds. Rice lake is pretty much that....Rice!
For those interested (not to advertise) I am an outfitter and guide.
