So I bought my dream canoe last night! A white Swift Prospector 10 feet long and weighing about 5 pounds. I found it at a random yard sale and couldn’t believe the price -- $44.99! I asked a couple of times if it was $449.90 or $4,499 but the guy insisted it was $44.99. I paid, loaded up the canoe, and got out of there as fast as I could. I was super excited to try it out… but then I woke up and realized my dream canoe was just that. A dream. Sigh.

Lol, I was in that boat for years. Finally pulled the trigger on my dream canoe last week. Wasn’t anywhere near the price of a swift prospector, but it was much more than I ever imagined I’d spend on a canoe. I feel moderately guilty, but I guess if there is one item you are going to splurge on in life, it may as well be a canoe lol. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that one day you’ll get your dream canoe!!

Too kind! But a couple of years ago I scored a good deal on a used Magic (for real) so I'm not exactly sure why I had this dream. Greedy maybe? Or maybe since I haven't canoed in a couple of months due to a strained shoulder tendon it was my subconscious trying to get me back on the water with a lighter boat?

Also, big congrats on your new canoe!!! Have you had a chance to take it out yet?

definitely understand the itch to get back on the water after being away from it. It’s amazing how our subconscious finds its way into our dreams.

I have yet to get it out on the water. I’m currently planning my first trip with it. Looking to take it out next week. I wanted it’s first time on the water to be in the bwca. The anticipation is killing me lol.

Don’t worry,it was only a bad dream. Unfortunately in your dream the yard sale owner almost suckered you out of your money. A 10 foot canoe is like trying to float on a toothpick. You’re lucky it was only a dream, there is no way you can paddle a 10 foot canoe without falling out of it just by stepping into it

Ha, as I was talking to the guy about the canoe, I was watching my kids do a ropes course/zipline with a pony... it seems I wasn't too concerned about reality ;)

Not 10 ft but 10.5. Not 5 lbs but less than 25. It is a fun boat on the right water.

I think my wife thought I was a dream boat. That was many years ago and I've changed a lot since then.

Those dreams come true at times. I bought this UL Kevlar Malecite at a garage sale years ago for $175
About $300 and some time later and I had this..
Plus, they threw in 2 bent shaft paddles...

What a deal!! I think my best ever garage sale find was a really dirty Le Creuset enameled dutch oven for $5. A little bit of soap and Bar Keepers Friend and a lot of elbow grease later I had a brand new looking $400 pot. Doesn't paddle too well though ;)

I bought my black gold magic in about 1998. If I do the math on what I could sell it for, it's cost me about $44.99 per year. Worth it. But if I had spent the $2000 on Apple stock instead, or even put it in an index fund, then maybe not so much. Choices.
