The shed at my cabin was broken into over the weekend. I have multiple tackle boxes for different waterways and directives. My BWCA bag was amongst the stolen. Trolling motor, battery charger, and the list goes on.

I did have cameras and the perpetrators / 17 year old kids have been apprehended, but my stuff has not been recovered and they are not talking.

If you were starting from scratch, what are your go-to ideas? I have my own thoughts. We'll be on the Gunflint in early June. I made a list and it’s huge, but I’m definitely guilty of being a tackle guy. I’m so bummed!!

First, I'd buy four jigs. Then I'd cut the ears off the little shits and make the next fishing trip memorable.

At seventeen they may not be legally adults. Lean on the parents to replace your gear. If they will not, you know why the kids turned out that way.

Sorry to hear of the theft. I would be crushed and angry. Hard to understand why someone would want to do that to someone else. Hope they get their punishment.

I’d first like to say amazing kind gestures from my boundary waters family. I am always impressed by how people step up. Bass pro 69 I think you’re big enough to handle the situation. Apparently they sold my tacklebox and my stuff at the local flea market or that’s what they’re going with. I’ve spoke to both sets of parents and after meeting them I understand exactly why the children behave like they do. I’m gonna post my address . And once again a big thank you from Lisa and myself.

If the kids don't talk, I'd be posting the camera grabs of their faces and names all over their local community Facebook pages. Let everyone know who those little stinks are. ...please note - if you do this - don't slander. Just post the facts as a "ahem" community warning...

Place to start over - I already posted a new thread on this forum, where BizzBaits has a 20% sale site wide. Their soft plastics are ridiculous. I'm bringing some new jigs, spinners and buzz baits to the Gunflint Trail next mid-June. Can't wait.

I also have some extra baits I can send you...

What kinds of lures do you prefer to use?

I just cleaned out my garage..and figured out I have a bunch of stuff that I will never be able to get it wet. Mostly trout lures. I will send them your way

Make them feel proud to know that we feel they are such an asset to the world.

Got a bunch I can send you too. You may have to build a storage shed to contain all the lures you will get from this group. LOL!

I had a similar run-in with a minor thief. Go to the DA and victim services and make sure your loss is known at the time of the trial, the judge can rule that restitution be made. Don't let them blow you off; again make sure the judge is aware not just the police and DA. I trusted the DA and my loss was never even mentioned (there were other thefts) and I had a $500.00 deductible I never saw again.

On a happier note , I have a tackle box of lures going back to the 1950s. If there are any old lures that you would like that can't otherwise be replaced give me a shout, I might have them. Free or $10,000 your choice.

Well, poop! We'll be up there, staying at Loon Lake Lodge starting on the 10th. I'm planning to bring the family to Clearwater for a day of paddling/fishing - maybe even hiking up the Pallisades. If you're around on the 10th - 17th, let me know. Will definitely grab a fine ale. ...I'll have a vintage Three Floyds Dark Lord and a Dark Lord Variant in the cooler. I can't drink those alone - they're for sharing. :)

Have to give a note: People in SE Wisconsin huge catch lakers, brownies and steelhead on plastic stick type baits in the Lake Michigan Tributaries and Harbors. ...wonder if it would work on lakers up in BWCA...
