Mashuga: "Ledge "
We have our winner! Ledge, on the way from Makwa to Boulder, then Adams last July. Saw Magicpaddler from this site the day before on our entry day, on the Kawisiwi River.
Mashuga is up.
Which begs the question...what's a Mashuga?

Well, I like my chicken fried.
Mashuga was the name of my last Springer Spaniel. He died a few years ago aged 17.5 yrs. I know, not very creative on picking my screen name. The word mashuga is from the language of a plains Indian nation (Hidatsa) and it means "dog". I named my dog, dog. Again, not very creative I guess.
sns, I would like to defer the next round of NTL #22 back to you or another of your choice.
I have a fairly new computer and I'm slow on learning things. It has been pointed out that I'm only 1 or 2 steps above a cave man on the techno scale and I can't argue that point.

Love naming your dog "dog" in Hidatsa tongue! Very creative and I learned something today. :)

Agreed. I think it was very creative, and interesting.
I often refer to my wife, as wife. She calls me Handsome Hubby. Which is better than just Hubby, and way better than Chubby Hubby. Lol. She labels texts and cards, HH, and in return I address her in texts or cards, WW (wonderful wife).
Apparently Aruwia is the Hidatsa word for Wife or Woman.
This is a link to an English to Hidatsa translater...
Mirihdia is the Hidatsa name for Lake. Miri meaning water, and ihdia meaning big or large.
I thought it was interesting that the hidasta name for watery is "mirica", which seems awfully close to America.
Thanks to Mashuga, and doing a little digging, I learned that Sacagawea, although born shoshone, was actually named by the Hidatsa tribe.

analyzer, that dictionary is pretty cool. I used to live just of their res back in the '70's. I picked up a few words (very few), most of which aren't in that dictionary.
Would anyone like to volunteer to post the next Name That Lake pic?

I'd love to do the next pic! Never had the chance and fairly new to the game. If nobody has volunteered, I'd be happy too.
