I’m still two months out from the start of my trip but it feels like it’s coming up fast! Dehydrated 8 lbs of hamburger this weekend. Ready to start putting meals together from components I’ve dried separately. Getting excited again and going through maps and planning. I tend to start detailed planning so early I have a lull in the middle. I then have to go back through and get reminded of some of the fine details.

Still ice on the lakes though and I saw someone else talking about high waters flooding this spring in Quetico and I’d assume BWCA as well. I’d rather have high than the issues of low though and the fires we had last year.

My buddy’s place on the Rainy River Lake of the Woods had one of the permanent wood docks get hammered and messed up so I’m assuming it’s the whole north country for higher water.

I know the feeling and I start early too. There are lulls for me too, but that's better than the alternative. I keep all the info for a trip in a folder with pockets, review it all before I go, and take it with me. Most of it I do as early as I can because you never know what "black hole of time" will pop up at the last minute. Been there, done that, and ended up "frazzled", which is never a good way to start. Done trips in low and high water, each has pluses, minuses. Hope all goes well and a nice trip.

We're exactly two months to the day from dipping our toes in Lerome Lake. The higher water will be a blessing for sure. Sue Falls should be interesting. It was super low last year. Just mother nature swinging the pendulem.

I just printed my maps yesterday. Updated my prep lists on Excel. Getting more familiar with my GoPro. Completed another continuous ridge line for the second hammock. Ironically I'm getting anxious because I'm pretty much prepped already and have little to do.
