We'll be there at the same time! My daughters have had success fishing with spoons and shad raps on Wood. We've never caught any monsters but decent numbers. Indiana Lake, on the other hand, has produced several +30" northerns.
Sounds like you have the right approach. We'll be watching for you to land a lunker!

Look at the map on this site. Near the "W' in Wood Lake is a small island, with an orange dot on it. Fish the drop off just off this island, especially on the E/NE end. If that doesn't work, the weedy bay to the southwest of that island just might. These are certainly not secrets, so if the lake is busy (sometimes day trippers fish that lake too), expect to see others hitting these exact same areas if they are targeting pike. Darker colored crankbaits (shad rap #9 in black/gold was a winner) near the island dropoff and spinnerbaits in the weeds both were effective for us in the past. I've topped out around 28" on that lake, but there are certainly bigger fish to be caught. Good luck!

Sounds like a plan! I was planning on canoe trolling that northern bowl shoreline over to the island with a gold shad rap.
I will look for you guys out there.
Good luck!
