Entering on Sawbill on August 2nd. Will have our two 14 yr old grandsons and want them to have a good fishing experience. We expect to single portage. My original destination was Cherokee as it is a beautiful lake with day trip options to Frost or Long Island Lake. So now we are open to other routes/lakes. August 2020 we based camped on Kawishiwi as had some issues come up the night B4 we left and did not know if we would have to leave early. The intended destination for that trip was Malberg, but made it there last August with another couple. Thanks for any recent info

Personally, I've been disappointed with the fishing on Cherokee, Long Island and Frost (Frost is ok for Lake Trout). I doubt you'll find a walleye in Cherokee or Long Island. If you want better fishing, I would head up the lady chain to maybe Phoebe (walleye) or the fire chain, especially Burnt. These routes will probably be more crowded though.
