Hi friends,
I am taking a buddy and his 6 year old son into the BWCA for his first trip. I have two permits booked: EP 69 John Lake or EP 34 Hog Creek into Perent Lake.
Which lake would have better fishing for eaters this time of year? I am open to pike, walleye, smallies, panfish, anything that we might be able to catch. Thanks!

Yes, we had some moving targets and different options so I had 2 booked in different parts of the BWCA. However, I did cancel one of them a few days before so it could still be enjoyed by someone else (there were still permits available on that day). I did not think that crossed a moral line but if there are thoughts on that, I am open to the conversation. I am a very ethical person and want to do the right thing. Thanks all.
ps- we did manage to round up some smallies, northern, and perch and a good time was had by all!

AND…this is why I started the thread about permit hoarding…
Most people plan their trips in the winter/spring due to work requests and permit availability. Reserving 2 permits denies others the possibility of planning a trip. Cancelling a trip a few days or even a few weeks before does little good for most people.
Back in the spring there were no permits available for those entry points. So obviously others did what you did if you say no harm and there are permits available now. You aren’t supposed to be able to book two permits in your name either…not sure how you got around the loophole?
Not mad at you, the system is flared.
