Last year we went from Mudro to Crooked and it was crazy busy. We had a tough time finding a campsite. It was, by far, the busiest place I’ve been in the BW.

This year we are considering the Falls Chain to Kawnipi. How busy is this area? We are hoping to go in early June. Thanks.

I am not sure other than to say...."see you there!"

I think once you get through the chain, it’s possible to get spread out in the Kawnipi area. A popular destination, but big, with lots of sites.

Falls Chain to Kawnipi half way point for us has always been Kenny Lake. I think only two sites there. Once you're on Kawnipi, you shouldn't have much trouble if you move to the north.

I wouldn't expect the same amount of traffic as Mudro to Crooked. I was on Kawnipi mid-June of 2019 and we shared the lake as far as we could see with a single solo.

I have been through the Falls Chain to Kawnipi three times in mid-June, and I would not say it was ever busy while I was there. I never stayed in the Chain; paddled through and onto Kawnipi each time and there were plenty of sites available.

I don't think there is likely any place in Quetico that nears the traffic Mudro gets on a summer day.
