I talked to the Park and they are opening the last section needed for a clean Allenwater route. Brennan Lake west had been closed but they said they are going to open it up on Friday. I’m going to switch back to the Allenwater route based on that fly in this Sunday.

Excited but nervous with this being our first whitewater trip! first time dealing with a 60 liter barrel so that has been interesting. I’ve always used the soft sided insulated CCS food packs before. Always a challenge trying to make 14 days of food fit into whatever pack or barrel you are using though!

Sounds great! There seem to be a few walters waiting for you!

I’m bringing plenty of fish crisp and oil! More than I normally bring. We like the Shore Lunch Buffalo style for chicken. Nice spice without adding anything else! Hopefully the Pickerel cooperate.

Up at Wabakimi Outfitters enjoying the evening. We’ve got a rainstorm coming through now. Probably won’t fly out till 10:30 tomorrow at the earliest. Excited for the trip but also a little apprehensive on our first whitewater trip!

We went into Armstrong community center today with Bruce and others and watched the new documentary on Wendell Beckwith. Prepped some gear after that but we’re in pretty good shape!

Back from the trip! Pretty awesome experience and hard to cover it all. Probably do a FOW trip report and pass on as much detailed information as possible. Can be hard to remember each rapids though without taking the time to write notes each rapid. I didn’t take any pictures on trip until just about at camp after getting dropped off on the first day. I made a conscious decision to be in the moment. I did run a track on my Garmin each day which was super helpful in remembering details.

We did change the route on trip and did not go to Whitewater. With the weather we had after that it was a really good decision! So from Kenoji lake we did the Ogoki running all but 50 yards of the rapids on the upper eastern Ogoki. We lined the 50 yards we couldn’t run. We then turned south at the Berg river and went against the flow On that to Smoothrock lake.
