We have reserved a cabin with PackSack outfitters for the week of june8-15. I've never fished Fall Lake. Was thinking about a guide early in our trip. If anyone would be willing to share some information it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

What will you have for a boat?

Renting a boat from outfitter. Bringing a trolling motor and portable depth finder.

I've camped at Fall Lake many times, but only fished it a couple times. It seems to be a sandy bottom bowl without much structure. I'd bring a canoe and make day trips to various lakes for fishing (Tofte, Wood, Birch, Ed Shave, Shagawa, etc.).

If the falls are flowing well, try fishing the base if you like catching Smallmouth. At times the big ones are stacked in there. The bay in front of Veterans On The Lake resort is good for Walleye, and BIG perch…

The outlet from Kawishiwi Falls is supposedly good. Just off the boat launch at the Fall Lake Campground there's a shallow weedy spot a lot of folks fish from in the evenings. Further east and on the south side of Mile Island are a couple of small islands with some good rocky structure around them that hold smallies and walleye.

Day use Fall Lake restricted motor permit would work. Good crappie fishing in the BDub end.

Can you explain restricted motor permit? I'm not up on bwca permit types.

There are 2 different motor permits for fall lake. “Fall lake and beyond “ allows you to go beyond Fall Lake. This is a sought after permit because it allows you to access Basswood Lake. “Fall Lake restricted” restricts you to Fall Lake.
Both permits are good for boats with motors 25hp or less.
