I am starting to plan my 2024 BWCA trips and I am looking at doing a loop starting at EP 38, spending a night or two at Wine Lake and then heading west on the Louse River. I was hoping to try a couple lakes off the beaten path for fishing purposes and was looking at Saddle Lake.

I don't recall anyone mentioning Saddle Lake on here and wanted to see if anyone has been there? If so... Were you able to travel up the creek/river or did you need to bushwhack to get there? If you did bushwhack did you follow the creek or go through Trail Lake? If you have been there, is it worth the effort for fishing? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to shoot me an email or reply on here. Thanks!

The creek to Saddle Lake is not one that looked paddlable when I went through there. The Louse itself is quite narrow with plenty of portage around the blue line sections. The creek to Saddle looks like it is all swamp. Might be worth bushwhacking but since it isn't in a PMA, it would be illegal to camp overnight. Let us know if you decide to try it.
