Trying to decide on a trip for late May- early June. Myself with at least 3, possibly 5 grandchildren all teenagers. The 2nd trip for them all. I’ve been thinking of the kawishiwi triangle which was my 1st trip some 25 years ago. We used ep 31 from farm lake. I’m not opposed to that again but was wondering about using ep 32 as a beginning and end, but also have been thinking of possibly starting at ep32 and ending at ep30 if I could arrange a shuttle of some sort. If all 5 gkids come we would need a 2nd vehicle and we could do our own shuttle. Any advise or suggestions from you seasoned veterans would be appreciated.

My first solo was the Kawishiwi Triangle from EP 32 about 10 years ago and really liked it. It’s a great EP and area.

I’m most likely returning to EP 32 this year for my 5 year olds first trip. He thinks he should see Bruin Lake on his first trip because his name is Bruin :). We won’t be doing the Triangle and will just grab the 1st decent site that’s open and basecamp. .

If you want to exit at a different EP and not hassle with shuttle’s you could exit 33 Little Gabbro and have someone walk the 2 miles back to the vehicle.

We did this one year - entered at 32 and exited at 30. We decided to unload everything at 32 and then have someone drive to 30 and park, and then walk back before the trip. By the time you get to portaging into 32, the walker will be back to help with the second trip!

Do you mean 33? 30 would be a really long walk to 32.

Yes I did mean ep 32 to ep 30. Looked like a nice length of a trip with mostly shorter portages around rapids. A shuttle would be mandatory if we don’t have 2 vehicles ourselves. I’m assuming at this time of year the fish will be active, not that it will be our primary reason for the trip, but fresh fish over a fire is difficult to beat. Thanks to all.

My family has always done the Triangle from a single entry/exit point...once from Lake One and once from South Kawishiwi. I really, really liked the South Kawishiwi EP. We traveled up into the triangle and then basecamped. We paddled/portaged the whole triangle as a day trip the next day and had a lovely lunch at the falls. I don't think I would bother with a shuttle for that area.
