We were scheduled to be on Crocodile tonight for my 5 year old son’s first BWCA trip, but had our van break down on the drive north and had to cancel our trip. Obviously very disappointed we are missing out after planning this for months, but not too upset we will miss this storm.

Total bummer that your van broke down and you can’t take your much anticipated trip. But with the weather forecast, at least you didn’t have to make that agonizing decision to go or not to go.

Perhaps a stroke of destiny, I'm not sure I would want to be out there tonight if it's going to be as bad as it sounds. Could certainly create a poor experience for a 5 year old and he may not want to go again in the future.

How odd... I'm in the middle of watching "Into the Wild" when I decided to check the radar on my phone. Right after I go here and find this thread.

How bad was it? From a thousand miles away, the radar looked um... interesting... to say the least.

Anyone in the path? Hoping all is well.

Winds were in the 60-65 mph range according to radar. EDIT: the scale at the bottom of map is not wind mph, but rather something called QCb base reflectivity, which means nothing to me or most anyone…except maybe for Whitewolf... . It looks like the worst of it went directly over Gabbro and Bald Eagle lakes, then passed just south of Isabella Lake. Hopefully out of the BWCA now.

The cells were small but some were fierce. Unless you were hit by a cell it was not even windy. A cell just hit me at Baker lake and I am glad I am in my van but it did not last too long. A few that missed me you could see the white streaks of hail. You think this rain would at least drowned some of the mosquitoes but it sure does not look like it. Back on the water in a day permit in the morning

Fishing has been very tough due to changeable weather, wind, and conditions. Zero on Farm Lake yesterday and zero today on Shagawa.... very frustrating! Here till next week Saturday.

We were coming out and warned as many as we could on 6/12 of the potential.

Dispatch pulled some of the FS rangers in the East Zone out of the woods a day early because of the predicted storms.

I haven't been up to see for myself but I was told there is pretty significant tree damage from Isabella area over to Tofte and Lutsen. Lutsen had two Tornado warnings. Seems that town can't catch a break lately.

We were camped at Gull (island site) during the storm. It was pretty intense. Crazy amount of hail.
