I enjoyed being part of this community
My life has changed very much.
Wife died 3 years ago.
My dog died 2 months ago.
I have a hard time just keeping my life together.
I'll be 65 soon.
Sorry about dropping the ball, on The Bushwackers Jamboree.... so far.
Somehow I still have managed to get through dealer class, and have held down a job dealing blackjack, at River's Casino, in DesPlaines, IL.
If any of you make it in there.....ask for the singing dealer... I do entertain,
Still hoping to move to Ely....God willing.
Best to you all, on your wilderness travels.

Hang in there Stumpy.
One thing I’ve learned, you never know where life is taking you, but it’s taking you.
Last year was my 47th year in the BWCAW and due to circumstances it was probably my last trip to that place I have loved.
I still plan on spending time in Northern Minnesota, just not tripping in my canoe.
Keep on keeping on!

So sorry for the grieving in your life, my Friend. Such pain of the heart. I encourage you to get another dog. They give unconditional love, joy, and companionship. A dog will give you a reason to get up every morning and keep you active throughout the day. It will make a positive impact on you.

Hang in there Stumpy, people like you with your canoeing experience and humor keep me coming back to this page. We need you and want your presents.
Take Care-

Miss your posts, Stumpy. I remember it was hard when she died. I'm going to be 74 in a week and when old age comes, it can come in a hurry and then it accelerates. Hope you can retire soon and move to Ely and live the simple life with nature that lets you hear that quiet voice.

I have always enjoyed your posts. I insist on you continuing though. This community is something I have never seen on the internet before. Its capable of healing grief I think. Stay with us and chime in once you have the opportunity.

Hang in there, my man. Get another dog, and please stick around, you would be missed around here! You never know what is around the next corner.

Best to you, Stumpy. Hang in there and keep posting here, too. We need you to be here, and I think you need us, too.

Don’t go to casinos, so don’t expect to meet up with the “singing dealer”, but would enjoy seeing you again sometime at Canoecopia.

Wherever you end up, hope you get another dog and hope you find some renewed joy in life.
