Does anyone know of any camp sites on the north end of Big or Little Merriam Bays on Basswood Lake? Never been in that area, thinking about checking it out. Thanks for any input!

I'd be very interested to know, too! We paddled by (but not into) the bay last summer and asked ourselves the same question. I saw shadowy openings in the trees along the shore that made me wonder.

I see some campsites marked on PP but most are black though which I think means possibly closed or just a big unknown. One red one with no rating on an island in Little Merriam Bay.

There is a tiny island in Little Miriam, looked like it could hold a camp, but when we landed…we called it poop island…seemed guides or groups trashed it as a bathroom. Terrible.

Just south of that Island though, there was a reef, I caught smallies in til my arm ached…finally had to leave to meet my tow at Prairie.

Where in the bay was this island located?

There is a large island blocking the entry to Little Merriam, in front of that is a tiny, tiny, Island. I also think I saw a potential camp on the south end of the big island.

There was a motor boat fishing (must of been a native guide or someone fishing illeagally) in between the mainland and the Island —-the Northern entrance into Little Merriam. Must be a good spot? Although it looked like I was doing way better :)

Mike, you may want to somehow put this thread and a similar one on the trip forum together or put in a link. Hate to post the same info twice.
