Hoping to head to Sea Gull for a winter camping trip. Trying to figure out what type of travel conditions we may face. Is the snow deep on the lakes, involving all skiing and or snowshoeing, is there slush? Any information would be much appreciated!

I have no first hand experience, but I casually follow Tuscaroracanoe on Instagram. Recent posts show 4 inches of new show. It appears to be full-on winter up the Gunflint trail.

Have a great trip.

did you make it out? im looking at going up next weekend 3/14-3/16, looks like a large stretch of really warm weather with lows barely getting below freezing this coming week, still no concern for ice thickness at that point right? lakes will probably be nasty. wondering if i should go out this weekend instead.

Trip was delayed a few days, but just came out this morning (Friday 3/14). Traveling conditions are excellent, around an inch of compacted snow on the ice, with lots of bare patches of ice showing, we walked, no snowshoes required on the lake. The perimeter has some deeper snow and slush, but it's easily avoidable. 30" of ice, 20ish inches of snow in the woods. Nano spikes are necessary. On our way out, thunder and lightning and light rain. Forecasted rain and snow tomorrow.
Thanks!
