I'm curious if anyone has used the Bait Up container for leeches? Does it hold a pound of leeches comfortably where they will survive? I have a couple of these that I use while ice fishing with minnows but have never had leeches in them.

The leeches get stuck halfway through the holes. Maybe a fine mesh insert would work, but I feel that will slow the drain/ float. I’m not that impressed with it after last summers use. Foam piece eventually would come out every time, probably because I was dealing with leeches squeezing through.

I've used for a couple paddling seasons with mixed results. The rubber seals on each end wear out/warp pretty quickly leading to leaking and foul-smelling leech water soaking into whatever pack you might have them in. I second GrandRapids comment about leeches squeezing through the foam puck in the center. Not that big of a deal but negates that functionality. It will hold the leeches but being that it is sealed and holds a smaller volume of water you need to change the water somewhat frequently and keep out of the sun/heat. All that being said, I'd still take it over a leech locker for portaging purposes.

I just use a nalgene bottle with two lids, the second lid having holes drilled into drain the water, pull a leech out and refill.

I saw that one another post and was thinking of going that way until I remembered I had the Bait Up. Figured why buy something when I have that. But I think after reading the comments above maybe I will save it for my minnows ice fishing. I don't want it to get ruined by the leeches. I've used it for 5 or so years with minnows now and never had an issue with the seals or foam.
