Hello everyone,
I'm planning on paddling from Washington Island to America Point this Spring and was wondering if anyone has ever gone from Washington Island to Basswood Falls before? If so, how long of a paddle would I be looking at?

Thanks for any information you might have in advance.

We went the opposite direction in 2021...paddled from the small island campsite just east of "whale island" to the inlet to Wind Bay. Probably about an 8 hour paddle in 5-10mph winds. There are a couple really great beach campsites on United States Points to stop at for lunch.

PP put it at 2H 49 min. I assume you are planning on getting a tow to Washington Island. Another option is to get a tow to Back Bay. PP shows 2H 4m from there.

I would agree with rough timing of about 3 hours from wash island to the falls, done it a few times. Key is wind, if from west, you can be stuck at American point, as that is long sweep down basswood west of american point. wash to the point is not a problem wind wise. Choose carefully if windy at the point.
