I’ve lead a number of trips into the BWCA over the years, but this summer will be my first trip in the northeast corner, entry point 64, East Bearskin Lake. Normally I drive to the entry point early on the day of my entry permit and park in the entry point lot. I’ve never been to East Bearskin so I checked on the map. The entry point shown on this BWCA.com site when viewed on google maps (satellite view) appears to be a private residence, not a public access point.
When I searched Google for the public access on East Bearskin, it shows that it is located near the East Bearskin lake campground which is managed by the Superior National Forest service. The two locations are about a mile apart. Is it safe to assume the public access at the forest service campground is the official BWCA entry point?
Correct as stated. Very nice landing to load up and put your canoe in the water and parking lot at the Campground. Then the actual boundary where you paddle into the bwca is after you paddle down the lake for a while and past some cabins.
