I am looking for a high end point and shoot. One that allows manual use, shoots raw as well as j peg, has good battery life and quality lens. I am looking at a Leica, Nikon 6000 and a Panasonic that is a copy of the Leica. Any other suggestions?

I am trying to reduce weight and the 15 pounds of camera gear I carry is now my #1 target. I have been packing a Nikon D-80, 3 lens, battery pack, 2 extra batteries and filters in a Pelican Box. A tri-pod strapped to the pack.

Let's hear some ideas??

Maybe a new format?
Micro 4/3rds
A step past Point and Shoot but looks to make a small light weight photo kit.

I was thinking the same thing a few years ago. Now I just bring in my DSLR with one telezoom. I bring the Tamron 18-250 lens, one extra battery, one polarizing filter, packed in a waterp resistant camera bag inside a roll top dry bag and I have the best of both worlds. It is relatively lightweight but I still have my camera with.
Oh yeah - don't forget the insurance!
