July 26, 2011 - There is 1 active fire within WCPP. It is quite small at this time and is being monitored to allow ecological processes to take place. It's location is adjacent to Larus Creek, north of Irvine Lake. The Restricted Fire Zone (Fire Ban) has been removed as of July 26th, so campfires are now permitted. The area is still quite dry so we appreciate your continued attention in keeping your campfire small and putting it completely out when done.

Should predicted rainfall for July 27th occur it will do little to change the high fire risk as the long range is for this drying trend to continue.

Update on the fire in Woodland Caribou P.P. Not so small anymore. It took a good run yesterday. Conditions tinder dry and more heat and winds today. Crews have evacuated nearby fishing outpost camp on Murdock Lake. Paddlers are being advised not to enter at Lund Lake at this time. A flight this morning will have us re-directing paddlers that may now be in the area of heavy smoke. Will keep you posted.

Hopefully Sunny is west and going south enough to not be affected to badly. I luckily changed my plans to a BW trip as the lakes affected are the ones I'd planned on going to. Funny how that works... I'll be up next year Claire!

The Lund Access is closed at this time until further notice. Will know more today and will post an update.

Sorry to hear that you had to change your plans - nctry. See you next year.
The park is huge... the fire is in the area of Murdock Lake along the Bloodvein River and this is why we are closing the entrance to the Bloodvein River at this time - Lund Lake Access. Upper Chukuni entrance not advisable. All other entrances are not affected.

Please note - Lund, Johnson, and Onnie Access currently closed due to Fire #124 in the area of Murdock-Knox Lakes. For those traveling in the southern half of the park, the fire is of no threat... but if winds blow from the north, you may experience periods of heavy smoke. Contact the park office (weekdays) and we will assist you with alternative plans or review your intended travel route if you had planned on accessing via Johnson or Onnie.
I was out and about yesterday in the area of Glenn, Hansen, Wrist Lakes which were under heavy smoke. Calling for light southern winds today so the smoke will likely lift from this area today.
