I've been thinking of investing in an ENO Double Nest for some time just to relax around camp in. It would essentially be a community lounger for whoever gets to it first. I do have a couple of questions about them for those of you who might be in the know about them. 1. How much weight can they support? I go about 235 and another tripping partner goes about 270. 2. Since we've already discussed tree straps to save on damaging the trees, I'm pretty certain the Double Nest comes with ropes. I've seen the slap straps at REI, how easy are they to incorporate into the system. I haven't ever looked that close at my strap attachments on my WBBB, but I just imagine they would be difficult to detach and replace, so I kind of worry about trying to do the same with the ENO.

Changing the eno's suspension is fairly easy. It has a sewn channel one each end that the stock rope is threaded through. I bought a set of whoopie slings which were about the cost of the slap straps.
Take the stock rope out and thread the whoopies through twice and finish with a larks head. Bam! New better suspension! I believe Lymphocytosis has an online shop that sells whoopies. Otherwise you can go here for a video to show you how to change out the suspension.

As far as weight goes I am 275 and have had no problems with the eno i think it is rated to 300lbs. the slap straps on the other hand were worthless for me. They stretched way too much and adjusting them was a pain. You won't regret getting a set of slings.

The ENOs are quite resilient. I think the double nest has a weight limit of 400 pounds. You should be fine with that. I do not have one but I have a DIY made of the same nylon taffeta and I've had close to 400 pounds of people in it with no problems.

The slap straps are no good because they stretch after you've been hanging for any length of time. Plus, the weight limit description on them at REI leads me to believe one of their engineers failed high school physics. Get yourself a set of polyester straps (not nylon, it stretches in suspensions). Either use a ring or buckle suspension with long straps or shorter straps with whoopies. I think those are the two easiest options.

Thats exactly what I did. Throw away the heavy steel caribeaneers away and remove the heavy rope. That hammock is rated for 400 lbs so good to go.

good info. thanks guys. where is the best place to get the ring and buckle straps? I imagine those are pretty much the same thing that came stock on my my black bird, am I correct?

About tree straps, forget about slapstraps. They are made out of nylon and will leave you readjusting them in the morning because your butt will be on the ground. Get Polyester straps, no stretch. I ended up giving my straps away because I could not see charging anyone for them.

I know this is a dated post but I thought I'd point out that ENO has some new straps that apparently do not stretch (called Atlas Straps). I just ordered a set but have yet to receive them. But ya the Slapstraps stretch like crazy. Most nights I wake up with my butt draging on the ground. But I do like how easy they are to use and set up!
