Who has been to these lakes? I know Shelley is a waldo/bass area and Sark/Keefer have big 4. I'm looking for input on camping, portages, fishing. Thanks in advance.

I've been to Sark and Keefer - Very pretty lakes.... OS, and the journey over there from PP almost guarantees that you won't see many people!

I was passing thru during a very stormy period, and wasn't very successful in my angling, but the fish finder marked scores of what I presumed to be Walleyes on Sark.

We went through there in 93, didn't stop in any of those lake, but camped on Cairn and Kahshahpiwi....very quite, didn't see anyone until we got to Kahshahpiwi. Wonderful territory, we day tripped over to Trant....didn't see a soul there either....that's a long portage!

I really like Sark. It's got a number of good campsites in the southern part. The portages between Kahshahpiwi, Kiefer, Sark, and Cairn aren't bad at all, but going up or down Kahshahpiwi Creek from Cairn to the Maligne where it empties out of Kawnipi (I think that's the route you'd take to Shelley) can be a far amount of work if you have to portage around the many rapids. There's a nice island campsite in the middle of Cairn where we stopped for lunch, too.

We stayed on Sark, and paddled through Keefer. Yes, they are neat, quiet lakes. There are a few decent campsites on the 3 small islands to the west of the main water way on the south end. We caught about a dozen 20-23" walleyes to the north of the small cluster of islands where we camped. Look on a map and find the 2 bays that form a "V". We found some very humpy structure at the bottom of the V. In all honesty, if you're looking to go to that area, I would go to Cutty. Camp sites are minimal and poor, the 160 rod portage from Sark is about as bad as they get (if raining), but the rewards are golden (with a white tip). Or figure out a route in to Metacryst so you don't have to do that one twice. Camel is awesome, as is Veron and Delahey.
