Anybody else ever find a "campsite from hell" where you cannot locate a suitable place to hang?

One big advantage of hammocks is that you can almost always find a place to hang.

Well, I found the "campsite from hell" in Quetico. Most large trees were all spaced too far apart. Two trees that were perfectly spaced had an immense undergrowth of shrubs such that it was almost impossible to hang a hammock without cutting green growth. Lots of small trees that would not hold my weight. Judging by the dense undergrowth surrounding the site, I am guessing that it suffered a fire in the last twenty years.

After tying back several small trees and shrubs, I finally found a place to hang. Pictures below.

Still, a "campsite from hell" is still better than a good day at the office.

I had one similar on Lake Two. All the sites were taken and it was getting late so we took a 1 star site. I hung between two trees just fine but was right up into a large bush on one side. It wasn't windy so it was fine. I like getting creative while hanging it up.

Well it looks like it wiggled it in there just fine. To date, have not a major problem with finding suitable site, close, but we got er done.

I ordered my straps at 8', I'm thinkin maybe I should rethink that and get some 12', just in case.....

I have 12 foot tree straps and 8 foot whoopie slings to get to some far apart tree hangs. I have found it hard to fine spots to hang in the Ensign area the last few years.

twelve foot straps here too. I ran into trouble last year on Pietro. Managed to make it work, but the heavy undergrowth due to a recent fire made me get creative.
