Landing and most of the trail is a jumble of large boulders; very difficult footing. A true "ankle-breaker". There is a downed tree or two which are low enough not to present a difficulty other than the footing. Trail is level.

Trail

The short portage at the Muskeg end has been replaced by a simple beaver dam pullover.

The Muskeg Creek end is flooded out by a beaver dam, which is now the landing. Below the dam was not bad at the end of Sept 2012, but could be in wet weather. Just a slightly awkward launch but not too bad.

Another portage trail picture - watch your step!

Nearer the Muskeg Creek end of the portage, footing is a little easier.

That looks like a rugged trail

Yeah, it was McSweem - definitely one step at a time. Consider the next two steps, take a step, stop and reconsider the next step :). At least it was level and short - can't say that for the Muskeg-Kiskadinna portage though ;).
