I am in the process of planning my spring smallie trip and am wondering what other fly fisherman have for the favorite spring destination?

I have fished many lakes but my favorites to this point have been Wood, Indiana, Crooked, and Ella Hall.

In the spring I fish primarily lakes that are on Crown Land north of the Quetico. When the SM are on the bed they will quickly take a fly of any kind. They take the fly and are not trying to eat it but just to move it away from the bed. I use bucktail streamers normally as I tie them and have a good supply of them. I would feel bad if I kept a bass caught off a bed. After a while I even feel bad catching and releasing them as they are so easy to catch. In Canada check the limits and restrictions as some years they do not permit any SM limit until after May to protect the beds. I just paddle slowly around the shore in shallow water and look for beds.
