I guess what I mean is how early can you apply for Quetico permits, RABC, etc. for next year? Would like to go in late May.

You can make your Quetico reservation 5 months a head of time.

Here are a couple websites you should read.

http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/phone_rules.html

http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/travel/canpass/rabc-pfre/menu-eng.html

Permits that time of year are no big deal, just get it as soon as you know exactly where you want to go.

Send in for your RABC as soon as possible. Depending on where you live, it can take a long time to process.

how long is an RABC good for?

Last I read, it is good for only one year. I think it used to be 2.

Yup.

Although if you live on a border lake they're still good for two years.

When I got my RABC this last spring it was good for one year from my birthday. Since my birthday is in October, that affectively made my RABC good for 2 seasons :)
