The handle on my seems to be drying out and is looking ragged.

What kind of oil / varnish should I use to make it look new again?

Boiled linseed is good. Some folks use a combination of booked linseed and turpentine Bushcraft USA has a bunch of threads on this topic

Rutabaga had a wooden gunnel treatment that would work well I think,

It has a grippier feeling than the linseed/turpentine mix I have used.

Found some boiled linseed oil at Walmart of all places!

I think I will lightly sand the shaft and brush the oil on.
