Started off taking a cheap nylon hammock (don't remember the brand) to lounge around in camp. It had no bug net or dedicated tarp. If it rained, it was folded up and put away.

I found that my hammock naps were very restful so I started thinking about ditching the tent altogether and using a hammock exclusively. About 5 years ago I purchased the complete ENO system and used it for 2 years. What a great night's sleep. Of course I don't need to say that to fellow hangers. You already know that.

3 years ago I upgraded to the Clark Jungle hammock NX-150. I've used it for the past 2 years. I am a large guy and found I was a little cramped in my NX-150 so I just upgraded to the Clark Flex model. It has 3 tie-outs that allows for a better hang and even has room inside for my full size pack. I will use it on my first BW trip in 3 weeks. I've tested it out at home and it's a joy to setup and sleep in. I can't wait.

Now that I am a full-time hanger I just don't understand why anyone would want to go through the hassle of setting up a tent(finding a flat, level, no-rocks area etc...) and sleeping on the hard ground.

Most trips I am the only one in my group who hangs. This year, one of my sons and my grandson will be hanging the entire 9 day trip with me. The rest of the group will fight over taking a nap in my original cheapo hammock.

I used to tell people how much better they are but I don't anymore, only because they are starting to take all the good hanging spots before I can claim one.

+1 but I've gotten pretty good at walking into a site and quickly grabbing the best trees.

I don't try to convince anyone anymore that hammock sleeping is better. I just do it and if anyone has a quetion I answer it.
Whatever...

Our first BW trip four years ago we all tented, the next year I bought my WBBB. The following year my buddy bought a Hennesey system. Last year another joined us hanging. This year will be the first year all four of us will be hanging. I feel fortunate that I can quickly locate two exceptional trees, but I still can't help but feel I should have kept my big mouth shut!! I kid, I kid. Best decision I ever made, and if others get as much out of it as I do, than I'm very happy for them.
